Senior year stands as one of the most pivotal chapters in a young adult's life. It is a season defined by "lasts"—the last first day of school, the final homecoming game, and the closing of a childhood chapter.

As a Massachusetts photographer, one of the most common questions I get before a session is: “Can we bring our dog to the photoshoot?”
And the answer is an enthusiastic YES!

We live in an age of endless photos, yet we often document so little. Our camera rolls are filled with blurry snapshots and fleeting moments, but how many of those images truly capture the milestones that shape our lives?

Direct sunlight can create harsh shadows and washed-out skin tones, which is why cloudy days and golden hour often give the most flattering, natural-looking photos.

This fall, I photographed Jacob’s senior portraits on his family’s Deerfield, MA property — a perfect Western Massachusetts backdrop with a red barn, tall trees, and late-blooming wildflowers. Including his black lab, Midnight, made the session even more personal. Jacob recently moved from Alaska and brought his love for hockey, skiing, and golf into every shot.

The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, MA offers beautiful scenery, a unique yellow barn, cozy prep spaces, and seamless indoor-outdoor spaces — making it a dreamy Western MA wedding venue. After shooting an engagement session here, I'm excited to return for a wedding in 2026.

Recently, I had the honor of capturing Mitchell’s surprise proposal to Sam—set just over the Berkshires line in the peaceful countryside of New York. Surrounded by vibrant fall foliage, cozy log cabins, apple trees, and a quiet pond in the distance, it was the perfect backdrop for such a heartfelt moment. With deer grazing nearby and October colors glowing all around, Mitchell proposed beneath the apple trees, creating a scene that felt straight out of a dream.

Who says you have to cut cake? If there’s a tradition that doesn’t feel right to have a part of your day- make some adjustments and do your own thing!!
