Jacob’s Senior Pictures in Deerfield, Massachusetts
This fall, I had the pleasure of photographing Jacob’s senior pictures right on his family’s property in Deerfield, MA a perfect Western Massachusetts backdrop full of rustic charm. The setting couldn’t have been more picturesque, with a classic red barn, tall trees lining a dirt driveway, and a stone wall that added clean lines and timeless character to every shot.
In Western MA, unless you find a unique location, you are 90% likely to end up taking photos at a barn, in a field with tall grass, or on a dirt road. Before the Senior Photoshoot I was brainstorming locations with his mother. When she mentioned that she thinks her property woud be a good spot, I immediately was all for it!!
Think about how special it will be for Jacob and his family to look back at the Photoshoot on their very own property in Western, MA. Not only that, but usually senior portraits are the first time someone is in front of a camera, therefore taking photos of the client on their property is way more comforting than taking photos at a random new location!
Even in October, the field behind the barn still had blooming purple flowers, creating a beautiful subtle pop of color against the fall tones. These small, unexpected details are what make photographing in Deerfield and Western Massachusetts so special, there’s always a bit of nature’s “magic” to capture.
Jacob recently moved to Deerfield from Alaska and has quickly embraced everything New England has to offer. He’s a smart, friendly senior who loves hockey, skiing, and golf, and he has big dreams of becoming a pilot after graduation. I loved getting to know him and capturing the excitement of this season in his life.
One of the sweetest parts of the session was including his loyal black lab, Midnight, who happily joined in for a few portraits. She surprised us all with how photogenic she turned out to be! Those images truly highlight Jacob’s personality and the bond between them.
